Five Element acupuncture, presented as a modern application of this traditional healing system, treats the ‘person who has the disease’ and is effective in chronic pain, chronic fatigue, depression, anxiety, headaches, autoimmunity, asthma and GI disorders. Employing its unique and precise diagnostic and treatment approach and appreciation of the spirit root of complex medical and psychological disorders, leads to transformative results in treating the whole person. Five Element acupuncture emphasizes each person’s unique capacity for adaptation and healing and stimulates the healing response in critical illness situations.
The Five Element System is very useful in treating functional disorders including:
• asthma and allergies
• recurrent infections
• headaches, chronic pain
• functional bowel disease
• chronic fatigue
• anxiety and depression
This system also offers a powerful means to deeply treat individuals with serious organic illness. This approach can be well integrated into an existing primary care setting such as internal medicine or family practice. It can also be effectively applied to specialty practices including psychiatry and pain management. Five Element acupuncture emphasizes the uniqueness of each person and provides a means to establish a powerful, transformative and gratifying relationship with patients.
Physicians who wish to work with patients from a body, mind and spirit perspective, who want to increase their clinical skills in treating:
• complex physiological complaints
• psychological problems
• functional disorders
• pain syndromes
• health enhancement and prevention
The program is designed for physicians with acupuncture experience and is applicable to family practitioners, internists, psychiatrists, physiatrists, pain specialists and most other disciplines.
"Jack Worsley’s Five Element approach allows acupuncture to serve in the role of catalyst for psychospiritual transformation. Acting on the causative factor created a pathway to effect gradual and profound changes in the subtle dynamics that underlie most physical disease processes. I know the system to be of great clinical value. Charles Moss and Ron Puhky bring to the program several decades of clinical expertise and teaching experience. They have tested and applied the essence of Worsley’s information in their own busy practices, and teach with the confidence that success has given them and with the generosity of spirit that befits such a refined dimension of acupuncture."

The program builds upon and enhances previous acupuncture training. The course content is designed to provide participants with the didactic information, diagnostic skills and personal growth experiences required to effectively treat patients with Five Element acupuncture. The training focuses on six primary components:
Identifying Causative Factors
Levels of Illness including spirit level
Five Element Laws (including husband/wife,entry/exit, aggressive energy, internal and external dragons)
Diagnostic skills including pulse diagnosis and emotion testing
In-depth instruction in the function and spirit of the acupuncture points
Five Element treatment organization and patient self care
Class size is limited to provide ample ‘hands on’ instruction. The 2013 Basic Program is presented over four days, including the philosophical and historical background and the core diagnostic and treatment structure of Five Elements. Patients and class members will be assessed and treated; pulse diagnosis and point location will be emphasized. The program includes 24 hours on DVD for independent study prior to the program and a complete syllabus including a detailed description of the function of points.
The Basic Program will provide an introduction to the diagnostic skills needed to identify the Constitutional Factor and recognize the spirit level as described in the Nei Jing: ‘the first method of acupuncture is to treat the spirit’. Attendees will be able to treat with confidence the major ‘blocks’ uniquely described in Five Element Acupuncture: Husband/Wife, Aggressive Energy, Internal and External Dragons.
All attendees will be assessed and treated, to personally experience the effects of this system on body, mind and spirit and gain a deeper appreciation of the Elements. In addition, attendees’ patients can be brought to the program for treatment.
